This guide describes how to configure the LAN network with the Inthouse Hub, a Siemens Climatix PLC and optionally any number of Inthouse Touch Panels.
1) Network plan (IP addressing)
- 192.168.17.1 – Inthouse Hub (preconfigured by Inthouse, not possible to change)
- 192.168.17.2 – Inthouse Touch Panel #1 (you must set),
- 192.168.17.3 – 192.168.17.10 – additional Inthouse Touch Panels (you must set)
- 192.168.17.11 – Siemens Climatix PLC #1 (you must set),
- 192.168.17.12 – 192.168.17.19 – additional PLCs (you must set)
- 192.168.17.100 – 192.168.17.200 – DHCP clients (set automatically via DHCP, do not assign static IPs in this range)
2) Physical connection
Variant without an Ethernet Switch (1 PLC, optional wireless Touch Panels)
- If wired Internet is available, connect the Internet Ethernet cable to the Inthouse Hub WAN port.
- If wireless Internet is available, configure the connection of the Inthouse Hub to the Wi-Fi with Internet using the Inthouse App.
- Connect the Siemens Climatix PLC(s) to the Inthouse Hub LAN port.
- Connect the Inthouse Touch Panel(s) wirelessly to the Inthouse Hub Wi-Fi.
Variant with an Ethernet Switch (any number of PLCs and wired Touch Panels)
- If wired Internet is available, connect the Internet Ethernet cable to the Inthouse Hub WAN port.
- If wireless Internet is available, configure the connection of the Inthouse Hub to the Wi-Fi with Internet using the Inthouse App.
- Connect the Inthouse PoE Switch (or another Ethernet switch) to the Inthouse Hub LAN port.
- Connect the Inthouse Touch Panel(s) to the Inthouse PoE Switch.
- Connect the Siemens Climatix PLC(s) to the Inthouse PoE Switch.
3) IP Configuration of the Inthouse Touch Panel(s)
- On the Inthouse Touch Panel home screen, open the 3-dot menu.
- Tap Network.
- Set Network Mode to Ethernet.
- Click Ethernet IP settings.
- Switch from DHCP to Static IP.
- Enter/verify the following values (pre-filled):
- IP: 192.168.17.2 (or according to the Network plan for additional Inthouse Touch Panels)
- Netmask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.17.1
- DNS: 192.168.17.1
- Click OK.
4) IP Configuration of the Siemens Climatix PLC(s)
It is recommended to configure this in your SAPRO application.
Or configure using the Inthouse Studio Wizard (Choice and Restart screens) in production.
Or configure at any time using Climatix SCOPE:
Navigate to SystemObjects → IP-Config and set:
- DHCP: Passive
- IP: 192.168.17.11
- SubnetMask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.17.1
- PrimaryDNS: 192.168.17.1
- SecondaryDNS: optional (e.g. 1.1.1.1 Cloudflare, or ISP DNS)
- SNTP:Server: 192.168.17.1
To apply:
- Go to Diagnostic, set ApplicationSave to Active.
- Restart the PLC to apply the settings.
5) Configure the Inthouse App local communication
- Open the Inthouse App on the Inthouse Touch Panel(s).
- Open the configuration (with ID C-XXXX…)
- Select Local connection when asked
- Set the controller IP to 192.168.17.11 or according to the Network plan for additional PLCs.
- Continue until the App loads, verify that PLC values are visible.
6) Diagnostics
Verify IPs
- Inthouse Hub: 192.168.17.1
- Inthouse Touch Panel #1: 192.168.17.2
- Siemens Climatix PLC #2: 192.168.17.11
Avoid conflicts
- Ensure no other device is using the IP range 192.168.17.1 – 192.168.17.19.
- Do not assign static IPs in the range 192.168.17.100 – 192.168.17.200.
Optional ping test from a laptop connected to the Inthouse PoE Switch or Inthouse Hub Wi-Fi
