Your privacy is important to us. This privacy statement explains what personal data we collect from you, why do we need to and what happens with the data.

This statement applies to the Inthouse products listed below, as well as other Inthouse products that display this statement. References to Inthouse products in this statement include Inthouse services, websites, apps, software and devices. Products and services of third parties are not covered by this privacy statement.

How and what we collect

You provide some of this data directly, such as when you create an Inthouse account or contact us for support. We get some of it by recording how you interact with our products by receiving error reports or usage data from our software running on your device. We do not source any personal data from publicly available sources nor from third party data vendors.

The data we collect depend on the products and features you use, and can include the following:

Name and contact data
We collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, and other similar contact data.

Credentials
We collect passwords, password hints, and similar security information used for authentication and account access.

Demographic data
We collect data about you such as your country and preferred language.

Usage data
We collect data about how you and your device interact with Inthouse and our products, for example data about the features you use and the web pages you visit.

Device data
We collect data about your device and the network you use to connect to our products. It includes data about the operating system, IP address, device identifiers, regional and language settings.

Error reports and performance data
We collect data about the performance of the products and any problems you experience with them. It includes data such as the type of the problem, details of the software or hardware related to an error, and data about your activity when the problem occurred. We also collect the settings, measurements, sensor data and other values of the smart device, for example current and desired temperature.

Support Data
When you contact us, such as for customer support, we collect data about you and your hardware, software, the content of your chats and other communications with Inthouse, and other details related to the support incident.

Location data
We collect imprecise data about your location, for example, a location derived from your IP address with less precision, such as at a city or postal code level.

Product-specific sections below provide additional information applicable to use of those products.

We do not knowingly collect children’s data, which is in line with the expected audience of our products.

You have choices about the data we collect. When you are asked to provide personal data, you may decline. But if you choose not to provide data that is necessary to provide a product or feature, you may not be able to use that product or feature.

 

What we do with it

The data that we collect are necessary for us to operate effectively, securely and to provide you – our customer or business partner – the best experience with our products that you are using. We rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis to collect and process the data.

We use this data to improve and personalize your experience, diagnose product problems, provide customer care and support services, to protect the security and safety of our network, products and our customers, to detect and prevent fraud, to comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, for research, and for our business operations.

We also may use the data to communicate with you, for example, informing you about your account, security updates and product information.

We take care to minimise the volume of the data that we collect and the amount of time that we store it, to transfer and store the data securely in encrypted form and to pseudonymize the data where possible. We follow the best practices and you can be assured that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data.

We share your personal data with your consent or as necessary to complete your order or to provide you with the Inthouse products that you are using or you wish to use. We may also share your data when responding to your support request with the necessary parties involved. We may also share error reports and performance data with the manufacturer of the smart device.

In case we need to share your data with entities outside of the EEA (European Economic Area), we will make sure that there are respective privacy policies and legal regulations in place to safeguard your data.

Inthouse App

Inthouse App requests certain sensitive permissions that allow it to access device data as described below.

Camera
Camera is used when you choose to scan an Inthouse QR code. The image is processed in your device and is never stored or transferred out of it, only the text content of the QR code is sent to Inthouse.

Bluetooth
Bluetooth is used for controlling smart devices near you.

WiFi and network state
This permission is used to scan your network for available smart devices and to optimize network communication.

Inthouse App uses Firebase Crashlytics. It is a suite of products and services that provides developers with information about the functioning of their mobile applications, owned and operated by Google. Personal data collected this way are, on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses, transferred to, stored, and processed by Google in the USA or any other country where they operate, and are subject to the following terms https://firebase.google.com/terms/crashlytics-app-distribution-data-processing-terms and local data protection laws and other regulations, such as GDPR.
